Accessible Justified and Liberated Homes (AJLH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating safe, accessible, and dignified living spaces for individuals and families facing mobility challenges starting with Idaho.
We believe that everyone deserves to feel secure and independent in their own home. For many people with disabilities, injuries, chronic conditions, or aging-related mobility limitations, everyday home features - stairs, narrow doorways, unsafe bathrooms - can become serious barriers to safety and quality of life. AJLH exists to help remove those barriers.
Our Mission
Our mission is to improve safety, accessibility, and independence by providing essential home modifications to individuals and families who face mobility-related challenges and financial hardship.
Through practical, high-impact solutions, we work to ensure that people can remain in their homes with confidence, dignity, and peace of mind.
Who We Serve
AJLH currently serves Idaho residents who experience mobility limitations due to disability, injury, aging, or health conditions. We prioritize individuals and families who face safety concerns in their homes and who may not have the financial resources to make accessibility improvements on their own.
Our work focuses on modifications such as ramps, grab bars, doorway adjustments, and other changes that make daily living safer and more manageable.
Why We Exist
Too many individuals are forced to live in unsafe conditions or forced into assisted living situations simply because accessibility modifications are expensive, unavailable, or overlooked. Small changes can prevent injuries, preserve independence, and allow people to remain in their homes rather than face unnecessary displacement.
AJLH was created to bridge the gap - offering support, advocacy, and tangible solutions that improve lives where it matters most: at home.
Our Founder
Accessible Justified and Liberated Homes was founded by Tina Lee Chandler Hensley, a parent, caregiver, and advocate who has witnessed firsthand how inaccessible housing impacts individuals and families. Her lived experience and commitment to community care inspired the creation of AJLH as a compassionate, practical response to a widespread need.
Tina believes accessibility is not a luxury - it is a fundamental part of dignity, safety, and independence.
Our Status
Accessible Justified and Liberated Homes (AJLH) is an Idaho based nonprofit organization and currently in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service.
